BMW is planning a green super two-seater to be called Z10 ED. It will surely try to project all the aggressive and stylish characteristics presented with the M1 Hommage concept and at the same time showcase BMW’s expertise in building an environmentally conscious sports car. ED means Efficient Dynamics which stands for BMW’s efforts on making a car green, whilst not losing the “Ultimate Driving Machine” part in the equasion.

Only the Z10 ED is not built by the M-division but in a quite secret lab called Technik, which also blows life into Z1 and Z8. Technik envisions the cars, designs them and produces them in the end in their workshops.

Aluminum and carbon fibre together as the body shell guarantee the car a maximum weight of 1400 kg. It is rumored to get a brand new more heavily pressured straight six and an electric motor that gets the juice from a lithium-ion battery pack. BMW is aiming for 400 hp.

The Z10 ED will set you back in around £80,000 and it will stay unique due to a limited production run.

As the story goes, after BMW canceled plans to revive the M1 with a mid-engine, R8-eating supercar, Munich's decision-makers apparently gave the go-ahead for another project to highlight the company's tree-hugghing and road-hugging technology.

A new straight-six high-pressure turbo engine is being researched to work alongside a lithium-ion battery. The engine takes advantage of recent developments in turbo charging, direct injection and thermal technology to garner copious amounts of power from its small size. A power figure of around 400hp (298kW) is what can be expected. Brake regeneration technology will be applied to save and store energy inside the lithium-ion battery.

Audi's new supercar R8 V10 5.2 FSI was revealed back in december Yesterday Audi released more pictures and a video of this 528 hp supercar, that will be available at Audi dealerships in Europe already in April. Refresher: Current Audi R8 with the 4.2-liter V8 produces 420 hp, but it is not enough to take on other supercars such as Porsche's 911 Turbo.

Audi's answer is a 5.2-liter V10 with 528 hp found in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. This power is sent to all four wheels via six-speed manual or an R-tronic semi-automatic gearbox.

0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) comes in just 3.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.1 seconds. While a top speed is 316 km/h (196 mph).
